Place Value and Rounding
All numbers are created from ten digits: 0, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9
The value, or worth of the digit depends on the place value that you find the digit
A 5 located in the hundreds place is worth 500, however if you move that 5 over to the tenths place it is now worth 0.5. It is the difference between finding $500 in your wallet or $0.50 in your wallet.
When adding or subtracting two or more numbers, you MUST be careful to always line up your place values. The digit in the ones place of the first number should always be located above the digit in the ones place of the second number. This is true for all place values.
